An Ally: Netherlands
Allied Fleets in the Second World War
& Indian/Pacific Theatre
Ships from a number of countries assisted the Australian-based logistic effort to repulse and eventually overcome the Japanese aggression in the Asian/Pacific area.
The greater number came from the collective support provided by New Zealand, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Norway and USA.
The Netherlands, like other European countries, operated geographically-dispersed fleets prior to the Second World War. They suffered many losses to enemy action as the Japanese incursions spread further south into Asia and the Pacific from 1941 onwards. This site provides some information on these and on some of the surviving vessels..
